Retreat Reading

Just started this one. Seems like real-life, down-to-earth theological reflection that stretches beyond the tired language of narrow evangelicalism. Longer review after I've read more deeply.
It does seem to me that the emerging church movement is discovering what monastics, especially Benedictines, have been saying and doing for over 1500 years!

Hey Brother Randy. Just stumbled on your blog looking around for new monastic expression in the Catholic Church. I've very recently come back in to the Church, having most recently been very involved in the whole emerging church world. I planted a community in Kentucky called Vine & Branches. Though we have now effectively ceased to be "a church" the long-term vision I've had for years to start a rural monastic community is still alive. Too much to get into here but I just wanted to make contact. I see what you're reading, and I think you're right, there is a good lot of very deep connection being made in some circles of the emerging church world - very monastic. Anyway, you can read more of my stuff and story on my blog if you like.

Interesting days we live in. The talk of new ways of living out a monastic vocation is very interesting to me, and a much needed thing today I think. OK, that's it for now. Peace to you.

- sorry if I assumed you were Roman Catholic. My story may or may not apply. I didn't see the Anglican thing till after I commented. Peace.
